We are considering staying at one of the Motels on the hill behind the McDonald"s. Does anybody know if there is access to the trails from the Motels on the hill?

There is trail access but there is no snow on the roads that take you to the trail. You would be way better off staying at the Ramada across the bridge or the Americinn in Calumet where they actually have snow to ride on! All the good riding is gonna be north of Calumet!!!.

X2- the trail that goes up the west side,(through the ramada parking lot) will be bad, overheated a sled before on that stretch. youll have to go the other way,,unless they get more snow and it sticks around

Riding in town is done around Houghton/Hancock, it was getting really rough late in the day on Saturday.

I would suggest staying in South Range or up towards Calumet. The access out of the Centennial Cabins just a shade North of Calumet was still really good this weekend.

being that I live in the Keweenaw and drive everyday to hancock for work, it is shot. I agree with Stack in that I'd stay in Calumet and head north. Multiple stretches of rocks and mud on the lower trail between Hancock and Lake Linden.
