I know this comes up on occation, but with the poll, thought it would be fun to really see the results, rather than just guess at how many people say one or the other. My guess here is that we'll see the majority are heavy trail riders.

I do all trail riding now but would love to try off trail riding. From the pics I see, off trail looks like alot of fun.

I voted 75%+ off trail by time but likely not by distance. Often where we go we may be off away from the trail most of the day but ultimately hook up with it and drive it back, plus to/from gas station and so on. So distance wise it's very possible some days may be better than 50% of the distance on the trail but 25% or less of the time is spent there.

You got what I meant I guess. I wouldn't count going to and from your off-trail site, or to get gas and eat, 'trail riding' so to say. It's more of your intent and the purpose you are going snowmobiling. You aren't going out to stay on the trail, you just need it to get where you really want to go. I'll take having fun over high miles any day. Which I guess some people find putting on a ton of miles the fun part. And that's fine. I just like to scr3w around instead!

I would tend to agree that off trail can be dangerous. The exception to the rule would be to ride behind someone who knows the area,(huge fun!!)

Off trail

75% off trail there's no feeling like powder rolling all over you cause no one knows your secret play spots and carving it up. Or finding a big hill to climb and high marking it.

Trails are fun in the UP but not in the lower unless your in the Jordan Valley.

Trails are so great to ride, especially after a big lunch and they're all ripped up ! Do you think less signs will slow any of the idiots down ?
Still waiting for the day I hook ski's with some waterhead outta control.
Not if ,its when !

Yep stay on the trail my friends. Those deep powder filled meadows are filled with sled wrecking land mines that should only be navigated by trained backcountry riders. Especially if your out west the same week I am, let me go ahead of you and check it out first please.

Starting to sound a bit like a bash the trail rider post....

Is that ok on this board??

Just wondering, because when us trail riders make cracks about off trail riders wearing back packs full of garden tools, we get our threads yanked and kicked off the board...
