How does the weather get well-settled or "mixed."

Hi John. Our local on-air meteorologist was explaining the consistent temperatures across the region yesterday (temps were quite consistent from northern WI all the way into Ontario) and said that it is an indicator that the atmosphere is well mixed. How does the atmosphere become mixed like that? Thanks.

I'm really not sure what your local on-air meteorologist is referring to when they say the atmosphere is mixed. That is a term that I have never heard used before when it comes meteorology.

The reason why the northern US and southern Canada are so warm right now is because the main jetstream is way up in northern Canada.

Is the main jet stream the sub-tropical or the polar one. If its the polar one, could ask to come back, I'm not done with winter yet.
