While some folks are riding thinner conditions in vilas, and iron counties...it seems the majority of you are hitting the western u.p. ...lots of trailers heading north through northern Wisconsin...can only image the traffic/trail conditions up there...are there bumps the size of Volkswagens on trail 3? Is the moisture pounded out of the snow? What are you guys seeing?

Sugar snow.
We've been riding the western end every other week. Start early in the day if you want to put on miles. Traffic is heavy enough to tear down the groom pretty quickly. Trails that do not get groomed on a regular basis won't quite make a volkswagen disappear, but it's close. If you are riding a clanker suspension, it's going to wear you down.

I will say that it's nice to see businesses using their cash registers this year.

Theres a distinct difference between the groomers that groom Tr#2 from the Watersmeet area into Marinesco and beyond...UP Thunder Riders are doing a bang up job...Marinesco not so much...2' roller moguls on every bridge maintained by marinesco club...Watersmeet bridge crossings were all flat and fast just like the trail surface...Actually saw the Watersmeet groomer dude on the trail @ 4:30 pm last wed doing his thing...

That is pretty normal.
The short section of 2 that is done by Gogebic doesn't see as much grooming. Those bumps get pretty deep and hard before they get cut down again. The Thunder riders do a bang up job so the transition is more dramatic.

Gogebic Area grooming seems to neglect the area to the south from Lake Gogebic to Marinesco to the Wi border on Trail 1. That area seems to always be rough. Not sure why as they have a groomer housed in Marinesco, I believe. The GRTA and UP Thunder Riders do an awesome job.

I based out of Hurley for the weekend. Hurley trails were little thin on Friday, but improved with a little snow last 2 nights .
We left at 6:15am Saturday. Went to Lake of Clouds. Ran Lake Gogebic all the way down & over to Marenisco, down to PI.
Real glad we left early. Good trails early, but deteriorated with the all the traffic. Still good snow everywhere though! The PI & Winchester trails ended up with decent refresher with the snow later in the day.
Trails were good again today with anything groomed overnight. Warmer weather loosened the up though.
Trail 2/11s East of Wakefield, & 102 heading up to LOC were both terrible. Even before the traffic, not much grooming there. Same as 1S, but not terrible compared to others. I took 11S today, & that was still bad. If you open up Polaris ride command, & look at the ride reports you'll get a good idea of bad ones.
Still better then sitting home!
