I bolt the holding tool to my bench, then use a pipe wrench with a pipe on the spyder nut tool and a pipe wrench and pipe on the spyder tool. Some heat will help too. They are on very tight with locktite. They are over 200# of torque. It is a b---h!!!

Good luck.

I added heat to mine, use a brazing torch so you are heating just the steel nut. To loosen the spider they have a special tool it is also loctited it may require some heat be careful not to heat it to much.

Heat and muscle!!!!

Red loctite usually has to be heated to around 200 degrees before it releases. You really do not want to put direct flame/heat on the bushings as they will burn. If you are heating the spider with a propane torch you will not get the rollers hot enough to hurt them and the movable sheath should be lying next to the fixed so that should be fine also. If you are not using the correct clutch holder and spider tool you might as well throw the clutch away and buy a new one. They make them for a reason.

I guess I will have to try heating it up more then. I only used a little bit of heat, not wanting it to get to hot. I have the spider tool and a jig for the clutch to sit in to hold it in place but I just cant break it loose. I will have to try more heat and a bigger breaker bar!!!

Just making sure... do you have the jam nut off? You need to take the jam nut off before you try to remove the spyder.

Soak some rags in ice water and lay them on the sheaves and fire
up two torches so you can heat the spider fast.

Just did mine and had the same problem. I Have the jig and spider wrench, put a 3/4 breaker bar on it and could not get it off. Had to put a pipe extension on the breaker bar so the handle was 5 feet long before I had enough leverage to get I off. Even with the long handle I had to put all my weight into it before it came off.

Yay.... thanks for all the info..... I am to impatient..... so I just brought it to the yamaha/skidoo dealer in town and they had it off in no time, and it only cost $25. Well worth it in my eyes.

Only reason I didnt go to the polaris dealer in town.....The guys an A-hole. Haven't been in his store in over 10yrs.
