Hurley Area Snow Report Wednesday, December 11, 2019 With temps hovering around -12 this morning and snowfall totals at 70” or so, the trails are in the best early season riding the area has had in years.
White Thunder Riders have been out grooming and busting up low areas in anticipation of being able to open an additional 10 miles of trail from Hurley to Island Lake Road over to Center Drive on Thursday, 12/12. ( Trail 15 from the Cary Mine Market to Island Lake then 15a to the North Pole Bar)
Trails are groomed with volunteers heading west to Frontier Bar down to Lake Superior. At this time, Trail 160 from Saxon Harbor east to Michigan is CLOSED.
The following openings/ closings are still in effect:
Trail 8 from Cty G to West Branch Road (closed from 15 west to 77)
Trail 8A
Trail 8B
Trail 13 Montreal to Island Lake Rd.
Trail 13C
Trail 2 & 2A
Trail 15A (from 17 to North Pole, closed from NP to 15)
Trail 15 Hogsback to Island Lake Rd (closed from 15A to BP)
Trail 11A
Trail 6
The White Thunder Riders will continue working on freezing down the closed sections as weather permits.
A few things to remember...Three of our border Counties - Vilas, Ashland and Price are NOT open yet, Gogebic Co MI is open. Early season conditions exist even with all the snow. ICE IS NOT SAFE. Please stay off of the lakes and flowages.
Riders please RESPECT our landowners. Follow GROOMED trails, not snowmobile tracks. STAY on MARKED trails. When in doubt, turn around.
