Hey guys I have not been north yet this year :( but wondering if Hwy 51 south of Tomahawk is a rumble strip like always? I am headed up to the U.P Wed finally. Last couple of years I run 17 from Merrill up rather then take 51 to 8. Thanks

Yes, plenty of guys bitchin here all winter.
My experience is it is worse going south than north.

Going North is not to bad at all. We took it South first trip this year and there was a trailer on the side of the road with a broken axle. We take 51 north and 17 south every time now.

That's exactly what I would do if I had to travel. Fortunately, I live here but travel back and fort to Wausau and the southbound lanes are horrible; north decent.

The 10 miles from Hwy 8 to S on the southbound side is some of the worst road in Wisconsin... you need helmets and a nut cup from football to drive that stretch.....

Yes that may be a little overstated (lmao), but south bound is CONSIDERABLY worse than north bound. Having to drive that stretch everyday for work is a joy...not

I will need to compare the drive up to Munising we did last week. Hwy 94 near Cleveland cliff basin was unreal. I was sleeping and though we were experiencing an earthquake. Even with a 3/4 ton truck, we were bouncing on the road. Very dangerous if the roads would have been slippery.

Was on it yesterday. When talking on the phone it sounded like I was talking though a fan. Lost one filling.

true !!

I agree with the others, 51 south is terrible. I also agree Hwy 94 out of Munising is also terrible as I drove that one earlier today on my way home. Hopefully a few more local rides but they are calling for rain later this week.
