Ice is thin.

Tuesday, I was working over on one of the ten thousand plus lakes Michigan has, Anyways a guy was out on the lake in the Mid lower peninsula. A snowmobile rips by with open water right next to him, Some folks were riding bikes on the lake pulling snow boarders, etc. Well this guy decides to plow the snow off for the kids to make an ever so large skating rink. Low and behold, his quad with blade goes through the 2" of ice. hanging from the blade at the front and the rear hitch at the back. Water is 6' deep here. Well I got pics but did not turn out well at all (lense fogged). So you just have to take my word for it. Came back to job today and there are three plastic deck chairs out marking off a hole. Quad is gone. Not sure if to bottom or out of lake. If it is out it had to cost this Yuppie quad owner big money cause it was getting dark when I left Tuesday and the rescue guys would have worked Christmas to remove. (Not sure if removed or sunk).
Moral of the story, keep in mind many of us have no snow and next to no ice normally this time of year. Just cause it is white does not mean it is all frozen. "Pedal Bikes on the lake???" who came up with this idea. PSI??? who knows what that is??? be safe friends. "Stupid is what stupid does" We got 8 times our snow fall at this time.
