ice maker in freezer

we bought a super nice refridge that has an ice maker in the freezer and was wanting to put this in our cabin up north. The only problem is, we always shut our cabin down, blow water lines out and shut heat off. I'm worried that the water won't drain proper from the line on the back of the fridge. Does anyone else do this? Or am I asking for problems. I did remove the small line at the top of the back of the freezer before it goes into it, and tried to blow back down to the water regulator and could not. any ideas? Or just a bad thought on my part. Thanks for any advice sure would be nice to have ice in the summer time.

Open up the control box and find the wire that controls the water solinoid, add a switch. Flip when blowing down and purge the line. Remember to dump the ice cubes.

That is why we leave the heat on 40 degrees now. Ice will take out the solinoid. I replaced mine because of this. If you have the real fancy model with water and ice in the door you have solinoids for those too. I also shut the main water off and flip the ice lever down. Otherwise solinoid will stay open trying to draw water to make ice, This will overheat the plastic solinoid housing and wreck it this way also. Yes what a hassle for cubes. My cabin fridge has 4 solinoids all connected in a cluster. If one goes you have to replace all. You may want to go back to the cube trays or leave heat on.

After the 1st time I started taking out the water/ice solenoid unit and take it home for the winter.
We found that taking out the shower cartidge was necessary also due to trapped water.
