Interesting thread, two things will make me want to watch are a good story or humor, sometimes both.

Iconic?

Titanic, Patton, Star Wars, A Few Good Men, Dances with Wolves, Band of Brothers, Close Encounters, Forest Gump, Midway, Saving Private Ryan, and I gotta include Gone with the Wind. Might be considered a Chick Flick but it has a heck of a story and quite a bit of history mixed in too.

Honorable Mention?

Fugitive, Apollo 13, Borat, Dirty Harry, Basic Instinct, Die Hard I & II (snowmobile chase scene) Meet the Parents/Fokkers, Grumpy Old Men, and so on.

Forgot to mention that Christmas Vacation is hands down my favorite holiday movie. So many memorable lines...

"Sh---er's Full"

"Barking for the Yak Woman"

SQUIRREL!!!!!

"Where's Cousin Eddy? He eats these damn things"

Three that I consider classic and never seem to get tired of watching are Blazing Saddles, Christmas Vacation, and the original Family Vacation.

The Family Truckster purchase scene with Eugene Levy is priceless. "You don't like the metallic pea?" and "You think you hate it now, wait til' you drive it."

American Pie. Based on East Grand Rapids and western Mi. Names have been changed to protect the guilty. Also I can't believe I missed Forest Gump, Smokey and the Bandit.

The Shawshank Redemption is tuff to beat (IMO). Good Will Hunting (shows what true friends will do for you). The Departed, American History X, Oceans 11, Pulp Fiction. These are a few of my tops. Oh, and Stand by Me is always one I like to watch and think about being a kid again. Lard A$$, Lard A$$, Lard A$$. Or any of the American Pie movies, but they make me realize how old I am and that I should have had more fun when I was young. One last one to throw out there is John Q --- Not the greatest movie ever made, but tugs at the heart strings pretty hard. Who woudn't do that for their kid? If you haven't seen it, I dare you to watch it w/o sheading at least one tear...

How about when Grizwald asks how much the repair was and the mechanic said, "How much ya got".
