I have been using the olympus that is water proof, Get one where the battery is rechargable. The olympus has a square battery thats works well. I have it in my front jacket pocket it gets cold but does work.

I have a small enough camera (Canon Powershot) that I can fit in the pocket of my bibs so it doesn't get real cold. No matter how cold it gets outside, the camera stays plenty warm to take great pics.

I have had two Canon Powershots over the past 6 years. I carry it in my pocket and have always been the documentary film maker in the group. Never had any problems with operation or lens fogging. I just keep it in an inside pocket. I use it when we go skiing out west also and never had a problem.

Funny thing I was just looking and wondering about a new camera b4 seeing this thread. We currently have been using an older Kodak that is waterproof/shockproof but the problem is it is too large to carry on you and always had to put it in the trunkbag even there is takes up valuable real estate. My wife has been complaining that we need something smaller especially to take on our Alaska trip next spring

So I'll be watching this one.

The Olympus waterproof/shock-proof line is great. The zoom isn't that of other cameras but it has never been an issue for me. If you plan on taking professional quality pictures then look elsewhere. If you want a camera that always works, is waterproof, has a lasting battery, takes a beating, and works when it is cold I'd definitely look at the Olympus line.

I also have the Olympus camera. I put it in a case and in my windshield bag. The heat coming from the engine keeps its warm enough. I've never had a problem with it not working.

Any one using a helmet camera, I am going to purchase one soon, just looking for some feedback, The Hero pro seems to be the front runner right now, seems like a decent camera for a fair price?????

Olympus waterproof/shock-proof camera sounds good. What model & best store to purchase? How much? Can you easily change picture size for JD website. I don't post a lot of picures A my Sony does not work in cold temps & B a big pain downsizing for JD.

I have the Olympus 850sw (That was the kit I bought but it was only $152 back in April Sam's Club Had them in the 150's also back then). And just saw Pantax came out with a type of camera but with a better zoom. 5X and higher pixels. But I don't know anything about Pantax. By the way my Nikon used 2-AA and I had no problems with that. I just keep it in my chest pocket. Only camera I had problems with the batteries freezing up on is my Oregon Scientific ATC1 they did not make a cold weather sleeve for it then. But if I where to get an new cam it would be VholdR They even have and HD model.

What do you think about Olympus waterproof/shock-proof 6000 for $249 at Best Buy? Not a lot of stores in Northwoods. Can I get it cheaper or somewhere else or another camera? Sure would like to touch & feel too.

I've been using this canon powershot for a few years now. I dropped the last one a few to many times and wrecked the lens but I replaced it off ebay for 30 bucks. Actually it's only a 3.2 mp but it does produce good pics. It uses 2 AA batteries, I uses the energizer NiMH rechargable. Capacity is good, very pleased with the operation in cold weather. All the pics I have posted in the last 2 years were from the powershot a400 (old model). Here is the quality

I use Nikon Coolpix L20, with excellent results. Uses AA batteries, so you don't have to worry about recharging expensive batteries that loose their stamina. I use Lithium AA; they last months, even in cold. The controls are intuitive; you don't have to read the manual. It's small, as in "fits your shirt pocket". It's easy on the wallet; $99 @ Wal-Marts everywhere. 10 megapixel hi resolution is great for enlargements, 3" screen. You can't loose.
