Important: Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail Access Disruption on Tuesday 2-9-21
On Tuesday 2-9-21 the lower deck of the Portage Canal lift bridge will be used by a forestry company to move a piece of equipment that is unable to cross on the upper deck. There is the potential for trail access disruptions during the hours of 8AM-12PM, with a period of time after ~9AM where the trail will be fully closed to snowmobile traffic as the equipment passes from the Houghton side to the Hancock side using the lower deck.
Once the equipment has passed through, the trail will be assessed for any damage, and the trail will be repaired as needed (Hopefully Minimal). We appreciate everyone's patience throughout this process, please use caution in and around this area, and respect those who will be managing the trail traffic/enforcement during this time. Our goal is to have the trail safely opened back up as soon as possible once the equipment has passed through and is taken off site.
