my son and i recently purchased our first rider forward platform sleds a 2017 cat eltigre 8000 and a 2007 cat f1000 and went to dealer and wanted spare belts and to was shocked that belts today are $200 plus for each belt. looking for input on wether there is a suitable aftermarket belt built to same specs as the oem belts and a little more affordable, I own an outdoor power equipment business and use some aftermarket belts that are better than oem and was wondering if there is an atleast comparable belt to the oem arctic cat belt or is one better with staying with oem. the last belt I purchased was under $100 for my 1995 zrt 800 and needless to say the new belts were a shock, but I realize if you want to play sometimes you have to pay, just looking for input

I carry a dayco belt as a spare on my 17 renegade x 1200, I have never used it yet but I assume it will work well. On my etec I had I bought a gates belt and put close to 4000 miles on it and it worked very well. When my oem belt wears out I will buy another gates to replace it. In my opinion gates is a very solid belt and in some cases better than oem.

Thank you everyone for all the input, i have seen the oem on ebay considerably cheaper but I also know that cat does not manufacture belts and there are only a few companies that do ie gates and carlsile so wouldn't doubt that is whats in the sleeve. Again i appreciate it and old abe i think I will go with the gates, Thank you!

You are correct about the fact that the snowmobile manufacturers don't make their own snowmobile belts. They do although have very specific specifications for their OEM belts made for them and you may find that although an aftermarket belts will fit, they most likely will have some differences in rubber hardness, angle, etc. and will most likely run slightly differently that an OEM belt, such as changing the RPMs, etc. Just something to keep in mind if you go aftermarket.
