I'm sold on the iPhone4!
Funny thing... the iPhone4 (mine is of course AT&T) is so very much more than a 'phone'! More like a micro-laptop in functionality, with phone capability thrown in.
I don't really do that much talking on my iP4. In fact I have always preferred using asynchronous communications, like email or text messaging (the latter seems much more direct and personal), mainly 'cuz I absolutely hate phone tag, voice mail and those @%$& 'automated attendants'. Asynchronous messages can be dealt with at one's leisure, with no need to have both parties on the phone at the same time (usually an inconvenient time for one or both)! And you have a written (digital, text) record.
What I like is the iPhone 4's smooth integration and versatility, text messaging & MMS (both unlimited for me), photos, email, web browser, mapping/GPS(!), FaceTime! (the videophone that ma Bell never got to work — but only when using a Wi-Fi connection, either at home or on the road), oh and all at the same time — full multi-processing capability, except when using FaceTime.
I had been having thoughts of replacing my elderly, failing laptop, but after several trips with the iPhone4 — driving to Flagstaff, and flying to LAX for a stay of several days — I discovered that I don't need a new laptop. The iPhone does it all. One less gadget to deal with through airport security, too.
In the middle of a conversation — snap a photo and send it via MMS and/or email —"Is this what you're looking for?" "Okay, I'll ship it out tomorrow."
I luv it!
Oh and I get a much better signal in the cell hole at home than with my old Motorola cell phone. Usually at least three bars out of five. So I am no longer feeling an urge to get an AT&T 3G Microcell (see photo).
