I would say get a trail map and look to see what works for you. You can basically go any direction based on the miles you want to ride. I went through IR yesterday and came from the east. Took Trail 2 west to 15 north all the way to L'Anse and it was all great except north of Sidnaw heading into L'Anse. If you want a shorter run you could take 15 north then take 111 back east to Crystal Falls then head west back to IR on 16.

Another route would be 15 north to trail 8. Gas up in Sidnaw then take 8 west to 107 (which was great Yesterday) down to trail 2 then back east to IR. 2 is the grade trail and was very good yesterday.

on another subject...I can't for the life of me figure out why the iron river, MI club usually ignores the section of trail 2 between george young and where the trail hands off to the Blue Ox club in Florence. West of george young is almost always great. East of there...not so much. Does anyone know why this is usually the case?

Are you saying the Blue Ox club grooms in MI?....Trail 2? They might cross the bridge but then turn around, no?

Exactly. they cross the bridge then immediately use the turnaround space and double back. I assume the Iron River club does the same since there is a turnaround on the wisc side too. My point is from this location west to the george young junction is typically ignored compared to the rest of Iron River's trails. George young junction west to the 107 was all outstanding last night. IF the snow was deeper then it would have been moguls but since there isn't an overabundance of snow it was more choppy than moguls. Don't get me wrong it was definitely not tragic especially with the new sled but I'm more curious than anything.

It's been like this for years too. Just this section.
Yesterday we rode that section and it was groomed from the triangle area all the way past Jr’s to mine shaft campground we ride , awesome trails to Iron river on 2 and 16 Northern route to crystal falls . Back home, vacation over. Jrs kitchen is closed , great pizza in Iron river. Wooden nickel good food.
