Was up there thurs fri sat sun, great snow for the most part, gunflint trail rough on warm sat afternoon of course, grand portage trail however was perfect!!
n shore trail awesome snow and awesomely groomed by sunday morning. BUT, the dam dog sleds and fat tire bykes are an unsafe mix with snowmobiles.
I called the dnr on monday to complain, dnr guy hates it too, concerned about collisions and potential deaths. He said the mn legislature and tradition force the dnr to monitor the race. At least the race started on Sunday and runs this week. Usually not a factor, we can ride other places, but with bad snow year and n shore trails with very good snow, I'm not staying away. Kinda ruffles my feathers we even have to deal with this. Of course I'm sure the dog sledders donate heavily to the groomers and help brush the trails and fill in the bonfire holes they leave on the trail.. back on a positive note, snow and trails are very good. You just have to stop when you see a dog sledder and appologize for having an internal combustion godless fossil fuel environment polluting engine...
