Is the weather good in August?

So I plan on visiting the Keweenaw this year when there isn't snow on the ground (first time ever). Is the weather still summer like come August or is it taking a turn towards autumn? To be safe I plan on coming up the first weekend in August.

In my opinion, August is the best warm season month to visit. Temps are still very warm (can be too warm from time to time), the water temps are also about as warm as they can be. The other up side is that for the most part, the bugs have all had their day and are gone too.

We always go in late August. Bugs are pretty much gone, cool nights and a range of temps during the day. Last year, I had to fire up the air conditioner. The year before it was in the 50's and 60's.

I honeymooned in Copper Harbor the 3rd weekend of August last year and it could not have been better. Based on my experience and what others say, I think August might be the perfect time to visit (other than winter).
