Island Park Idaho Feb 2013 Great times

Went out to Island Park Idaho Feb. 10 thru 14 with Destination Club Moms Motorsports. They do all the driving, cooking and make lodging arrangements for you great people. Give good advice on were to ride and were to stay out of. We did not have alot of fresh snow but did find some powder to play in. We kept looking and would find spots with new snow with no tracks here and there. Here are some pictures.

Somewhere by West Yellowstone, My sled with Two Top Mountain and then the Grand Tetons behind it, Myself and Maskey tipped over on the hill at the same time, along Black canyon trail,

Black Canyon was my favorite riding area and Mount Jefferson was the most challenging for us. I would defintely go there again with Moms Motorsports I would not drive myself. I am so beat after riding hard for five days it would not be very enjoyable to have to drive home. Thanks Moms Motorsports for providing a great experience again.

1st two are along Black Canyon trail, Maskey rolled into 2 trees , Don manning the sno-bunjee rope winch while Maskey and I push over the sled, rope hooked to the ski

Don Jesse Maskey Trent Dan, My sled duct taped after an encounter with a tree pink was all Trent had, The gang ready to head up Tyler creek drainage to Mt Jefferson it was a long day of getting stuck as we went down the wrong drainage and some of the guys had a hard time getting out then we got lost, finally got out at 8pm that night, I thought we were going to spend the night out there. Dan's big Yamaha Nitro stuck. Me somewhere between Sawtell Peak and Mt Jefferson.

NICE PICS!
Did you make it over to Kegs or Mt. Jefferson? Visit the town of Shotgun Idaho? Go down to the falls? Did you check out West Yellowstone? Los to do there!

We were close to the summit of Jefferson. We Rode on the North side of Jefferson for about 2-1/2 hours. We did not make it to Kegs, Shot gun or the Falls. We did go to West Yellowstone 2 times. We also went to Two top, Black Canyon, Lions Head looking for anything untracked. We found small patches to whole hillsides untouched and had fun playing in all of it.

Looks awesome! I might have to add that to my "must do" list as well! Curious what is the average elevation in that area?

The elevation down low is around 6500 ft. and we got as high as 9200 ft. I clutched my sled for 6000 to 9000 and it was fine.
The black canyon area is really a must go to area if you head out there. The part of the black canyon trail that is closest to Yellowstone Park and is all crooked on the map is the sweet spot. this is where it got burned off some time ago. this area is around 8000ft. and is easy to get to.
Mt. Jefferson had some good stuff to but there is no trail to it and if you make wrong turns like we did you could get lost like we did. One thing I learned is never follow someone else's track and never go down an unknown drainage always go up because you can always come down.
Lion's head was also very cool but was quite tracked up when we were there.

So Tyler creek.........................found it on the map. AAHHHHH!!!!! a short cut. Never been that way! sshhhhhhh!!!!!! IP is a good time, hard to get lost there.
