God Bless those lost souls and may the Fitz RIP and going to Whitefish Point is one of the best things I've ever done on a vacation . Makes you think about life and how precious it is . Tell people you love them daily . You never know when it may be your last.

Always interesting to re-visit the history of the 'Fitz'.

Several years ago I did some electrical wiring in the wheelhouse of the Arthur Anderson (one of the ships involved in the search of the 'Fitz'). I noticed on the wall in the chart room was a plaque from the U.S. Coastguard commemorating the brave efforts of the crew of the Anderson for assisting in the search of the doomed vessel. I looked out the windows of the wheelhouse and tried to visualize what the skipper was seeing (or not seeing) that dark stormy night.

Brought shivers down my spine to say the least! God bless all the lost souls and their survivors.

Man, that first video sure brought a tear to my eye. The second video is a very nice tribute to the lost sailors and their families. May God bless them all.

R.I.P.

“Straddling two countries, with a crown of iron and a foot of copper, Lake Superior has the title as queen of the inland seas. She is loved, feared, admired and respected.Sometimes she’s serene and peaceful, other times turbulent and tempestuous. Her wooded shores, the pristine streams that feed her, and rugged cliffs ...that pay homage to her are dwarfed by Queen Superior herself, greatest of the Great Lakes.”-C. Charl

‎"To say that Lake Superior is the greatest of the Great Lakes is to say much, but it draws no picture of the vastness of this haughty queen of fresh water who has a copper crown, the iron hills for a footstool, and the coldest blue eyes in creation… Facts and figures are poor measures of true greatness, which goes beyond reason and must be judged by impressions." -W. Ratigan

Its almost 7 p.m. and I couldn't imagine what was going through the minds of those 29 men. I didn't realize how many there were from Ohio on board. RIP
