Got home yesterday after spending the week basing out of houghton MI. Holy DEEP SNOW!!! We rode sunday night, all day monday, and tuesday until 7 pm before we met our first snowmobiles!!! Had the place to ourselves!!! Every stop we made we were the first people they had seen. Absolutley amazing!! Wendsday was sunny and a little warmer. Amazing views on top of copper harbor and also high rock bay was amazing as well. Can't believe how low the traffic was. Never got cold. ARctiva gloves, castle bibs, polaris jacket, 509 helmet and googles. Was funny to see a couple from PA inserting busch light beer boxes into there jackets to act as a wind breaker at Krupps.... Amazing trip to say the least.

That's crazy! It was really cold. You got there and left with the cold front. Glad you had fun. I heard 509 goggles work well.

Sounds amazing! I'm headed up that direction this Sunday for the week. Hope to get some fresh snow with warmer temps than last week. I hope trails continue to be smooth. We hope to get off trail and some fun in the deep stuff. I'm headed up with two others so any locals that want some riding partners for some off trail, send me a pm.

Picture 2 is what I've been waiting for all year! Or at least how he got to picture 2! Going up to Houghton on Thursday for 5 days.

Then stay ON trail...and avoid the work. But for those of us who go off trail, we know what you are missing out on. You either love it or hate it....and the more snow the more go! Even pros get stuck once in awhile.

I fail to see any kind of fun in picture number 2. I go on vacation to relax, not work.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks that way. But hey, to each his own. I don't begrudge those who dig it (pun intended). That's why we're all different. To those who enjoy it, more power to ya!

We were on the east side of the U.P. and found the same thing. Rode Sat - Tues and saw more groomers than riders. The snow was the best I've seen in years!

I with the relax trail ride guys but gotta say you been there done that. I got stuck my sled dug a 6 ft trench. When I jumped off my sled into my trench I went down another 2-3 ft. Talk about DEEP!! That was the end of my off trail.... Here is some pics of High rock bay. Can barly see the light tower. Funny that the ice was out that far there but right up to shore in copper harbor

Wow, that's the most snow I have seen at High Rock in many years.

Thanks for the pics!

Wow, I agree. I remember being out there as a kid with my dad and at the point also. What a cool winter pic. If my mind serves me correctly I was able to see rocks when I was there so mr JD is right, that's a bunch of snow.
