Looking to do a quick trip and want to stay in Curtis area. Stayed at Manilak last yr and it was great. Will be with a couple newbies and I haven't been up there that early in the season. Is Big Manistique typically safe by then? I don't mind ice as long as I know it's safe.
Thanks!

The lake is not frozen yet as of today November 30, some mornings it has ice around the edges, water temp is in the low 30's so its only a matter or time & -10 temps. It may be froze by New Years but would not go on it unless you see some ice fishers out n the middle, last year it did not skin over till Dec 19, it depends how cold it stays up there, gets below freezing at night but the weather guessers are calling for mid 40's thru Monday which is not helping any. I will keep this post updated & let you know if its safe by then. Oh ya we need snow there too but not till every thing freezes up tight.

Thank you very much for the information!! If not frozen, is there a way to reach trails from Manilak Lodge other than the lake that is not a total pain? really liked that place, it was clean and just what we needed. Thanks again!

Yes there is a few other ways, either trailer up to Seney & start from there, or if there is enough snow take trail 43 out of Curtis, probably wont be groomed yet. I would go North from Manilak's driveway on H33, side of the road (yes its legal) & then West on 498 to the North #43 trail on old Seney road that goes to Seney, I will post if the lake is safe by the time you take your trip.

Thanks! I really don't want to travel as we will have 2 place trailer and 1 in the bed of the truck. I really appreciate the help and advice!

any decent places similar to Manilak in Seney? 2 bedrooms, kitchen(preferred). Going to be 2 adults/3 kids. Ride in/out close to trails is preferred.
