My family has been in 'da UP since the late 1800's.

Da Yooper's used to be pretty popular when they first hit it big...now you don't hear much about them. Sort of silly and stupid...but not offensive.

Procupine Press is a great magazine!


The only thing "true" Yoopers find offensive is when people from out of state move here, and suddenly start calling themselves "Yoopers". 'Da only way to become a Yooper, is to be born one! :p

Folks that I know in the UP get absolutely unhinged (picture a yooper shifting tooth pick from right side of mouth to left) when pasty in mispronounced.
