Karavan trailer strut

I got a Karavan Atomic 13 trailer, damaged one of the 2 gas struts that hold the cover up. Not sure what Karavan wants to replace them but would like to compare to other venders. They extend to 35.75, compressed are 21 inches. But what weight should they be rated too? The ones on there have no markings. The cap weighs 260#, I see 154# and 185# struts on one site.

Try one of your auto part stores, i.e. Car Quest, Auto Zone, if they don't have it, they can get in a day.-Mezz

I can find the right size, just not sure on the weight rating. Want enough that it stays up, but not so much I have to hang on it to get it closed. I'm seeing the 185# for a 12 ft cap mentioned. Will prob go that route

I'd go with the 185#. If you get any snow on your cap the weight makes it more difficult to lift.

I'd go with the 185 as cold will also affect the load rating...
