Same issue everywhere else is having, too much water and not enough ice. There were huge puddles in the fields before the last big snow storm and then we picked up quite a bit of rain with that snow. We havent had enough cold weather to freeze everything up solid. The snow on top is frozen solid, pretty much just a sheet of ice. But if you chip through that its mud underneath or standing water. My pond frozen over but only a couple inches thick. I was in Antioch a couple days ago and the lakes I could see from 173 were all wide open.

I actually had a friend lose a sled in conditions similar to this riding on some private property in Kenosha. Snow looked great on the surface but he ended up finding a 3+ foot deep puddle in the middle of a field. Needless to say, he was done for the year. Luckily he didnt get hurt.
