Keweenaw on the trail report

While we're waiting for whether its gonna snow, sleet, ice, rain, blizzard or "thundersnow"........does anybody really know??!!

Just finished 436 miles from Land O. Lakes WI to Copper Harbor and back. Heres what we found:

snow is sparse until you get to north of Mass and Sidnaw

The Bill Nichols was EXCELLENT with the small exception of between Toivola and South Range. Lots of snow, great grooming!

more good trails north to Calumet (tons of snow in Calumet)

the Eagle River and Eagle Harbor trails were groomed and good!

Trails in Copper Harbor were also good.....made it out to High Rock, then went South too Lac La Belle, good trails and grooming.

While in Copper Harbor they told us at the Mariner that they had just groomed Trail 133 from Lac La Belle to Gay so we took it. It was groomed but being the first time of the year it had some wet spots and was a little rough

Trail 124 from Gay back to 3 was excellent!

Then we shot to the east to over by Lake Linden good grooming.

On the way back this morning we took the Nichols to trail 12 and took that to 109 and down to Sidnaw GREAT!

took 107 south and it was sparse in many spots....needs more snow eh

All and all a fantastic early season run, thanks to all the clubs for the trails and grooming! That was a great early Christmas present!!

For those looking for places to stop (pitstops) Park view in Twin lakes was not open but will open again Dec 26th........Eagle River Inn is closed again for the winter.......Eagle Harbor Inn is only going to be open Friday, Saturdays and Sundays (damn, we really wanted a "Lobster" pizzza..its all about the food!) Bear Bellys was also closed until after the 26th

Thanks to all the places that were open!

Thanks very much for the report, the wife and I are heading up to Calumet now, sounds like we should have some good riding .

I had to leave my trip 2 days early for a meeting I "had to be at." Reading about everyone heading UP North is absolutely killing me!

Have a great time, a Merry Christmas, and be safe!

I kind of jealous also with everyone heading north. But I'm heading up twice in January for a week each trip so that will work. If it works out I'm also going to northern Minnesota for two days next week, following the storm and snow.

Pretty sure they will also resume "full" hours after the 26th as well. And you're right....that Lobster Pizzza is darn good!
:joyous:
