I am optimistic that March will be an awesome month for the Keweenaw, but besides the week of the John Dee Ride-IN we are looking at 2 weeks without much snow before the event, and at least 2 weeks without much snow after the event. We have a lot of catching up to do!

Area Snowfall:

(2/10/10)

Houghton County has 28 inches of snow on the ground and has received 178.5 inches to date.

Keweenaw County has 25 inches of snow on the ground and has received 141.5 inches to date.

Snowfall history:

During the winter of 2008-2009, Houghton County received 260 inches of snow and had as much as 30" on the ground. Keweenaw County received 282.5 inches of snow and had as much as 37" on the ground.

Totally agree, things could have been much worse this El Nino season! I am happy we have what we have, and as Skylar has said we have been really spoiled for the last few seasons. There is a lot of season left, and for some reason I think March will be a big one......let's hope!

We were riding near Newberry last year and if you got off your sled you sunk in up past your waist. I went and sold the 121 inch sled and bought a new X-fire over the summer. Haven't seen snow much past my knees yet this year, go figure.

Have a baby coming in March so my season is ending Feb 28th this year, hope it piles up quick.................
