Thank you very much Packerland excellent information. I have a weekend home in St.Gemain so I will be trailering up from there and based on your excellent trails report head north of the bridge. Now wait and see what this storm actually does

On our way up
Driving thru twin lakes/toivola - no sleds or trucks/ trailers at Parkview -appeared to be closed

Looks excellent D.B enjoy. Looking at the weather for St.Germain on Saturday to Sunday they are calling for heavy ice so we are going to not chance it as it sounds like travel will be impossible to get home Sunday. Was really looking forward to one more ride but maybe next weekend just will have to stay on state trails. Better safe then sorry as it's sounding like it could be really bad in Northern WI.

So far the forecast has not changed. I saw they are calling for ice from Wausau north. Sounds like it could be a mess. The good thing about being retired Paul is you can play it safe and let them get the roads cleared first and be safe.

Heading back from Naperville Sunday morning, just hoping we don’t get a 1/2” of ice.
I would re-think your travel plans Paul. We had hail and thunderstorms here last night in Presque Isle which turned everything to ice after temp dropped. Snow supposed to start here tonight around 8 pm and last all night into the morning. Predicting 9-11" Roads may be a little nasty for a while.

If you get the ice delay your return. There was a sleet and ice storm years ago in Phelps so bad I couldn’t walk on my driveway. Next door neighbor was part of his local FD so had to leave we have steep hills on road out he got to first hill and rest of neighbors headed to Milwaukee were all stuck. They couldn’t get back or move so waited for sand truck to come thru which was a very long wait. Next time I talked to him he said forget it I should have stayed put conditions were impossible. I said oh yeah there are winter conditions in the Northwoods you just don’t travel in.

Yes normally 3/31 then after that only state trails are open. Back in the winter of 22/23 the DNR gave them permission to extend grooming season but they only ended up extending it for the weekend because the big snow storm they were calling for missed them. Still I thought it was pretty cool that they had extended the season. When you think about it the trail pass really is a good deal and that it really needs to be increased.

I was hoping to go up this weekend Sweep but I played it safe with all the ice they were forecasting. The weather guessers were off on how much ice and it now looks like I should of went as roads were all clear by the time I normally head back to the work house. I think I may give it a go next Saturday.
