Trailered up from Appleton/Green Bay on Tuesday morning and provide the following report:
Tuesday afternoon: Calumet on 17 up to 3 then south on 3 to Lake Linden, Dollar Bay, Houghton across the bridge (mat isn't down but 30 yards on the grates - no issue), down 3 to Freda Loop (up 121 to end then back down 120 to 3 to Mosquito Inn for dinner then back up 3 to Houghton across bridge then 17 back to Calumet. 83 miles.
120 was only rough area but groomer was going up 120 and most likely back down 121. Otherwise everything else was smooth and plenty of snow. We were the only trailer at AmericInn on Tuesday and Wednesday then others arrived on Thursday. Saw a dozen or so trailers at Ramada Tuesday evening.
Wednesday: Up 17 from Calumet to 3 to 151 to Eagle River then 130 to Eagle Harbor back to 3 then 3 up to Brockway Mountain to Copper Harbor - Mariner for lunch (gas was open in Copper Harbor) then 134 to High Rock Bay then back down 134 to 132 to Lac La Belle (Bear Belly) - gassed up at Bear Belly then 133 to Gay then 122 to Lake Linden then 3 back up to 17 and down to Calumet.
Trail 134 out to High Rock was rougher than I ever remember it being in the past but not bad. High Rock had maybe 2-3" of snow at the end but trail was fine. Still has the normal two to three foot wide river across the trail to remember to slow down for. 133 to Gay was not groomed and bumpy at times (plenty of snow contrary to reports we heard that it was thin and not to take it but did have some unexpected water crossings that are hard to see). No reason to avoid 133. Heard from guys in Gay that came down 124 that it was perfect. We did 140 miles on this route. Carmelitas for dinner.
Well worth the trip up and snowed the whole time Tuesday to Thursday (left early Thursday morning). Pics to follow.
