MASS, ALSTON,GREENLAND,HOUGHTON, CALUMET, EAGLE TRAILS, COPPER HARBOR, TWIN LAKES

Guys theres plenty of snow and these areas know how to groom, many times twice a day! BUT theres a ton of traffic when theres no snow anywhere else in the midwest. all the people are HERE!! Is it worth it?????????
SNOW: A GROOMING: A

NOTE: Trail 12 that runs between the Mass intersection and just N of Sidnaw should be CLOSED! Its nice to get to the Rousseau bar, but the loggers got the WHOLE road plowed down to NOTHING (save us a lane?!)

We had just got all that snow Thursday and they already had it plowed down on Friday....the whole road...thats 1/2 the trail!!!! Won't go that way again this year.

So can anybody confirm, trail 122 and 124 are open from trail 3 to and from gay. But 133 north of gay is closed. Am i correct?

I know 124 is open because I have a friend who rode it yesterday. I believe 132 over to Lac La Belle is open or will be soon.

he asked about Trail 133 not trail 132
trail 132 is open and has been for weeks
trail 133 runs from Gay to trail 132
trail 132 runs from trail 3 and loops through Lac La Belle to trail 134
thanks

Rode out of Houghton, MI Super 8 and loved avoiding the access trail by taking the waterway.
Intended to take 3 north to Copper but got 5 miles past Dollar Bay and had to go back south to 17 as trail was like concrete stutters from the warm up.
So, took 17 north out Hancock and that was good til 8 miles south of Phoenix then concrete stutters again til the Phoenix cut off.
Trail 3 north of Phoenix was outstanding all the way to the climb to Brockway Mtn which was ok.
Leaving Brockway Mtn south back to 134 was as I said ok, then went north on 134 which was excellent to the 132 cut off to Lac la belle. Then in to the Beerrl belly which was a smooth rode too.
Rode back to Houghton and all was still the same as the way up.
Strangely, I only saw 45ish sleds all day. Maybe the Mackinac bridge closure during the warm up deterred riders?
Got 19 mpg on the 600 Etec today, that motor is a fun one for sure.
Tomorrow checking out south and east, update you then.

Rode out of Houghton south on 3 today, 3 north of Bug bar was stutter bumps from pre-warm-up and 3 south of bug bar to 12 cut off was nicer. Took 12 east to Rosseau bar then rode the plowed roads for 15 miles (the northern 1 third of these roads are the worst) then rode excellent trails on 109 and then more excellent trails on 8-15 to Sidnaw station. Took 8 west to trout creek on excellent trails and snow but soon after was riding gravel all the way past Bruce's crossing and on to the 3 north cut off. After taking 3 north it took 6 miles to begin hitting all white trails again and beautiful by arriving in Rockland. Took 12 to ontonagen, this was the best trail of the day, lake effected all the way there and back to 3 plus groomed smooth as a baby's butt.
Took 3 north to Super 8 and was decent to Bug bar then it was concrete stutters back to Houghton. Strange that 3 south of Bug bar did not have stutters, must be grooming theory as south it seemed the dragged deeper to eliminate stutters.
Oh well, 260 miles and it was an ok day. 18.5 mpg today as I saw 80 plus more times than yesterday.
Stay away from Bruce's, it was horrible gravel.
17 Renegade 600 for sale in 2 days, 7.5 with 1,200 miles and warranty til December.
Don't know what I will ride next year, watch for their other new releases soon.
Riding tomorrow's then back to Green Bay.
Oh yeah, live riding the waterway to Super 8 as that access trail is like punishment for bad behavior.

Rode out of the Super 8 Houghton today and loved the waterway as trail access.
Got on 3 north and had concrete stutters for 10 miles north of town then poof they disappeared and 3 was great all the way to Brockway and back.
134, 135 and 130 were all great and riding was spectacular. When I was near Eagle Harbor an eagle glided overhead as I rode through the pines, it cast a shadow like a 747 landing.
Sitting at Beer Belly in Lac la belle at 240 pm and there are 47 people eating. Chili, philly and fries were excellent.
One more update about 6 and back to G bizzle.

Is anyone riding the canal from the east side of the bridge east and crossing portage lake to get to dreamland? with the cold this year I would guess it would be pretty safe... If not anyone know where to get on the dreamland trail in Dollar Bay and head east to Dreamland?

Rode 132 back from Beer belly to 134 south then 3 south to 17 south, all were in good shape and a great ride.
Back at Super 8 there are another dozen trailers in since I left in the AM, that's my queue to load the Ram and head back home to Green Bay.
Fyi, the waterway is a buzz with sleds.
Double fyi, guys are getting on the waterway from the Hancock side where the bridge connects to land on the north side of the bridge.

1fujifilm.....Thanks very much for taking the time to post your trail conditions reports. I'll be riding that area next week and it looks the the warm-up is behind us and if a guy believes the forecast there might even be some new snow on the horizon.

We'll be basing our riding out of Greenland so hopefully the Snow Gods will cooperate with us a put down some more snow on the heavily trailed trail 3 corridor between Greenland and the bridge. If not we'll just have to cancel our trip because we don't ride in less than perfectly groomed conditions:)

Just kidding.....That area is our go to area regardless. "We Ride" is our motto. You were wise to plan your ride when you did to avoid the weekend warriors and we plan to do the same. Have a safe trip home.

Wow. 47 people in Bear Belly, on a Tuesday? I don't think I've seen that many people in there, ever. That is one of my favorite spots though. Gotta love the Dave Burger.

Right on.
Did you ever see that "we ride" sticker from the 90's that guys were sticking in all the bathrooms? Hilarious.
Back in G.B. now, sad to say I hear leaves rustling outside..and.. and no snow.
