Klim Klimate Parka

Anyone wear the Klimate Parka? I got a really good deal on one at Cabelas last night, so I bought it, but I was thinking of getting the Valdez. I can always take the Klimate one back. I do all trail riding in northern WI if that makes a difference. I wear all synthetic clothes underneath for layering. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

I have the Klimate as well and wear a base layer and mid layer underneath it. Rode that way all last season. So far I am very happy with it. A TekVest also fits nicely underneath it.

Have that jacket since last year. Wore it to the UP, and was a little chilled. I think the problem was my base layer is a thinner polypropoline material, then the mid layer is the thicker fleece.
I guess you need to have a good, warm base layer, but I really like the coat. I think you'll like it.

I love mine it works perfect very warm when cold, but also vents well if warm. I would stick to that, will not disappointed!

Love my Klimate!

I got the same and I wouldn't change it for the Valdez or anyother Parka! I do all off trail and it def keeps you warm and dry. I had a slight material mishap with mine (my fault) and shipped it off to Klim and they fix it and had back to me in a jiffy! Great Customer service, thanks Klim!

That's the problem though. I do all trail riding. I'm sure it would be plenty warm if I were off trail riding. I think I'm still going to go and try on the Valdez.

Thanks,

Whats a good deal, I've seen them around town for about $220.00, which state are you in cause I didn't think they carry them in MN, not sure though

I think the klimate is the most insulated jacket. With the others, you have to buy the midlayer separately.

I got it for $223 at a Cabelas in MN. They just started selling there, but they only have the Klimate Parka and Bibs. My bibs are still in good shape, so I didn't even try those on.

Revman, the Klimate will take care of both styles of riding, its insulated and it does not have a removeable insulator. The klimate is warm enough for trail, in my opinion. Good luck!

Valdez

Well, I went and tried on the Valdez parka today. I guess I'm missing something. I don't quite understand why that would cost more than the Klimate parka? Don't get me wrong, it's really nice, but there is nothing to it (just the shell). I know, I know...it's a layering deal, but why would that cost $4XX, and my Klimate retails at $280? I really liked the hand gaiters in it and the longer back end (snow flap). Nope, I think the Klimate parka will do me just fine this winter.

Thanks for all the help gentlemen!

I think it's because the Valdez/Tomahawk/Keeweenaw use a higher-end version of Gore-tex and have more features (pockets, vents, etc). Yes, it does get more pricey when you have to spend an additional $100 for the insulation layer.

I also tried on a Klimate at Cabelas this weekend and was very impressed. It has a couple of vents. I wish it had the zippered pockets on the chest that the others had.

I'd like to buy a coat this season but may wait another year. So I enjoy following these discussions.

I agree with that. I just didn't think it was $200+ better than the Klimate...features or no features! I do really like those hand gaiters though!!!!

Thanks,
