Many times the lake temps will be 50-55 in October and we will get a strong front through. Sometimes it brings snow and sometimes rain. All depends on how far inland the marine layer travels. Plus cold air over warm water is not the only thing needed to produce lake effect snow. So just having warm lake waters and air temps cold enough for snow does not mean lots (or even any) lake effect snow.
