Zimmer1310 you should be fine, I know sleds have been running the lake for the last couple of weeks. If your not familiar with it, I suggest heading out during daylight to check it out. Stay on the beaten path( ie Gogebic lodge to the root cellar). Ask the locals before heading out, in case conditions change. Enjoy yourself and be safe up der!

definitley go in the daylight first!! New years weekend we attempted to make it from the gogebic lodge to the hoop&holler, at dark, in a blizard, and none of us were familiar with the lake..... bad news lol we ended up maybe two miles from the lodge on the east side of the lake and wound up heading back south!! luckily we were able to see our tracks before they got wind blown and covered with snow and made it back to gogebic lodge safe and sound by back tracking. just took the trail instead lol but in the daylight you should be fine.

We rode it from the south end to the Hoop & Holler on the north end yesterday, riding the west side. No problem. Pretty smooth, just few drifts but it's fine. As they have said, just stay on the beaten paths.
