I'm sure you'll get lots of replies that are they same as what mine is......there's not a good way to get to the Kee from L"anse or Baraga. Unless you put your sleds on a barge.

l'anse and baraga are low on snow even in a good year. i would look elsewhere further west and/or north if you want to ride that direction. however if you you were riding east, l'anse motel is on east side of town and would be ok

We stayed at the casino one year with good luck ( no pun). But I could see it being a problem with even marginal snow. The trail north used plowed roads, and was stop and go. We lucked out and the lake was frozen solid, so we were able to ride it from the Green Light tavern and saved some time and hassle of finding roads to lead us west.
On the way back down we took the long loop around. Fun ride, but it was late and took quite a bit longer.

-I think that casino room was like $45 and then they gave us two $10 rolls of quarters to use.

Why not look at a base camp of Twin Lakes or Mass City? Should be plenty of snow to head North, and have the option of heading South and West. Easy ride from there all the way up too the tip and plenty of lodging options.

X2 Any place from Mass City to Toivola allows you to go to all spots south, west to Lake in the clouds, or North to Copper Harbor

Might as well come the additional 35 mi & stay where you plan to play. You can go anywhere from here & there are plenty of lodging & restaurant options. Just my .02.-Mezz
