State officials are accepting nominations for a 65-foot tree that will placed on the Capitol lawn during the 2010 holiday season.

Officials from the Department of Technology, Management and Budget, Michigan Association of Timbermen, and Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association will help cut and transport the tree to Lansing at no cost to the state.

Eligible nominations include spruce or fir trees at least 65 feet high, with a maximum crown of 30 feet and a maximum 30-inch trunk diameter. The tree should be available at no cost and must have easy access from a road with no interference from wires.
