<section id="groomer-report" class="entry-content clearfix" itemprop="articleBody"> [h=3]Groomer Report[/h] 02-29-2016 SNOWING & BLOWING—BLOWING & SNOWING. It is NASTY out there. With the blowing hard telling how much snow but there was 6-8 inches on our sidewalk this morning. I’ll write more when things settle down and I can give you some facts.
We really need the new snow to work into the old snow on-especially #3. #3 gets sooo much traffic and in some areas of trail #3 there is 4-6 inches of what is referred to as sugar. It means that the groomer can make it smooth but it doesn’t adhere so after just a few sleds, its like it wasn’t groomed. A few inches of new snow will take care of this problem so we’re hoping. It usually happens to trail #3 first because it is so heavily traveled-the main corridor to get anywhere in the Keweenaw.
Superior Snowmobile Club’s 4 groomers are all grooming on a daily basis as long as temp is at least, at the warmest 30 degrees. If we don’t update this report every day, the grooming date doesn’t get changed. This report is the same as our groomer operators – volunteer. We do try to update at least every 4 days but sometimes the days get away from us.
Just a reminder that Superior Snowmobile Club now has a website and we hope you will check it out and pass on any suggestions.
www.superiorsnowmobileclub.org Also, we’d sure like for you to join our club at $25. per year. You’d be surprised how that $25. helps out with our expenses for fuel, maintenance and costly repairs. Memberships can be obtained thru our new website, or from Krupp’s Resort or Krupp’s Mini-Mart in Twin Lakes and Pat’s Yamaha/Polaris in Greenland.
Also, if you care about snowmobiling in Michigan, please consider joining Michigan Snowmobile Association. This is the organization that fights for our sport in Lansing and is also the organization that works for the clubs for the trails we are privileged to ride (both commercially owned and privately owned land). Please contact them through their website:
www.msasnow.org. This is the website that you are reading, as I type.
We would also like to remind everyone to watch our daily snowfall totals on our township website which is:
www.elmrivertownship.com On the home page click “snowfall totals.”
Enjoy your sport and “ride safe.” Thank you for using our trails and patronizing our business’s in Mass City, Greenland, Twin Lakes and Toivola.
This is a couple days old but its been really cold so I would guess trails are pretty good in this area!
Next week looks to be in the 40's and then the groomers stay parked unless it dips below freezing at night!
We all know that trail 3 will be bumpy by mid day on any weekend due to heavy traffic and then when its 40+ next week...... fagedda bout it!
