Late Winter LES

I thought a few weeks ago it was pretty late in the season for NWS Winter LES warnings to be posted but now while not officially LES warnings, North East Winds will produce 14" plus over many areas of the UP and N Lower included. NE winds just dont get any credit but its not always about wind direction. Spring hasnt sprung yet. Mqt NWS still hasnt hit 50 yet. I've had endless days of clouds, below normal temps, and now rain and cold. I'm feeling boxed in.

Has the whole weather world gone mad ?

The higher amounts in the NE snow belts of Superior are due more to orographic lift than the lake. Temps are cool enough that the lake may be enhancing the snow some, but most of this is "system" snow.
