Late winter?

I read somewhere that with past history that a late snow seems to lead to a heaver and full winter is that true with all the long term forecasts showing a record year and no snow yet?

Getting nervous as we head up to the Ironnwood on the 15th!

I don't really know of a strong connection to a late start to the season leading to a snowier than average winter, at least for all areas. I can say this, El Nino's can produce above average snow in October and November across the UP and some other areas of the northern Midwest and then the rest of the winter sees below average snowfall. The reverse is true for La Nina- lower than average Oct and Nov snow and then above average snow after that. There is a weak La Nina going on now. Our first snows came late and November has seen below average snowfall, but not exceptionally low- at least here in the Keweenaw.

Hang in there, the 15th is still over 2 weeks away and things can change in a big hurry in the LES belts this time of the year.
