It has been snowing hard in Boulder Junction ,NW Vilas county all morning, maybe 6 inches. and my bro in Ontario across Lake Superior north of Grand Maris minn is calling me a liar cause hes looking at http://www.intellicast.com/National/Radar/Current.aspx?animate=true Does LES not always show on some radar ? I think hes jealous because normally he has alot more snow but only has about 10 inches total on the woodshed roof this time of the year! What is surface radar i sometimes hear mentioned on local news/weather? Thanks have a good holiday season! UBEE

Most LES occurs with clouds under 10,000 feet and in many cases under 5000-7000 feet. So unless you are within around 50 miles of the radar, the beam is going to overshoot the cloud tops.

So all that has been happening in your neck of the woods today has been "under the radar".
