I'm mostly a lurker and not much of a poster on this site, but for whatever reason felt compelled to share my thoughts. I'm grateful that John created this site and for the mods who contribute their time to make this site what it is.

I live in MN and have been riding the Keweenaw area since the mid '80's. It will always be my favorite place to ride. I love the people that I've met over the years in the Kee and am thankful that the area is blessed with abundant snowfall annually. It's nice to have a place to ride every year that I can count on having snow and that has a lot of hard working folks that go out of their way to maintain the trail system and provide the hospitality.

I try my best to support the area and just got the call yesterday that my new sled has arrived at Pat's Motorsport's. It's a bit of a drive (325 miles) for me to pick up my new sled but it's worth it to me to support the area that supports my passion.

With all of the negativity in the world of late I just thought the time was right with the temps slowly starting to drop and the leaves starting to turn to post something positive. Winter will be here soon enough and I always say the snow makes everything better.

Pandemic or not and politics aside, we're all here because of our shared passion for snowmobiling. Cheers!

Nice post Boomer, I don't post much either but its nice to hear something positive in a world that has become so divisive. If you are ever down in Manitowish Waters, WI let me know, I'll buy you a beer at the local watering hole.

Thank you...thank you...thank you for that... I really needed that, I was hoping that someone would come around and you did it...nicer words couldn’t of been spoken.. So glad to hear you’re buying from Pat‘s motorsports, I go along way in history with that place, Kip and the crew are an absolute standup

Thanks also from all those down here who do not usually look up things at the JD website. I, too, mostly just read the posts without posting because it seems that every time I post, I end up becoming a target, so I just read and move on. The JD website is awesome and something I look at several times a day. Hope it can go on for a long time; the journal is one of my favorites also.

I know what he bought, but I'll let boomer spill it. It is an epic sled.

Great post sir boomer! Enjoy the new sled. Still waiting to hear from my local dealer.

Thank you all for the positive comments, I appreciate it. I hope that we all can enjoy an epic winter this year.

I'm anxiously awaiting the day when John releases his seasonal forecast for the upcoming winter.

My new sled is a Yamaha SideWinder SRX to replace the 2017 SideWinder LTX-LE that was also purchased from Kip.

I'm very fortunate to have a wife that also enjoys riding with me. She has her own SideWinder and loves it.

The Pol-Cat Days, wow, what a throw back there! Maybe John can throw a picture back up of that. I have to agree with you though maddogg, they had me until Yamaha too!

My husband and I have matching 2017 Thundercats. I hope she loves her Sidewinder as much as I love my Thundercat!

Yes, frost on roof tops and grass this morning, even down here in SE Wisc. Was nice to see but no where near ready for what's to come and hopefully not here by end of October like it was last year, was a nice reminder that it is just knocking at our door!

I know the season is getting closer because I had a horrible dream last night....

I dreamt I was out for the first ride of the season and my motor blew up. I could not get back to sleep when it woke me up. lol

That's awesome! I love to hear about couples that enjoy the sport as much as we do and the husband has enough respect for his wife to equip her with the good stuff. Kudos to you both.

Sticking with the good vibes theme...2021 trip is officially fully booked! Anyone renting sleds is done, cabin was booked in March and just lined up the lodging for our overnight/backback to Copper Harbor and the Mariner North. Now all we need is snow and no Rona!

Our club has 5 trips planned, and three of them have confirmed dates with the hotels we will be staying at. Rona be damned, we will be riding!

I like this website because of John's forecasts and also because it's a good place to see what's going on in the UP and northern WI. This might be blasphemous, but I'm not even a snowmobiler! I'm just a weather geek.

Yes, it is a good place to get the weather and web cams to see for yourself what's it like out there. The big news in the U.P. right now is the exploding covid cases. Houghton County is at 392.9 daily cases per million as of Sept 20th. The worst by far in MI. The Governor is threatening to move the U.P. back to phase 3 if you naughty guys and gals don't wear your masks. Covid cases are showing up in the schools daily. Escanaba High School just closed to in person classes until Oct 12th.

Take Governor Whitmer's warning seriously.
