I can handle Letterman in small doses.
Leno I can't stand at all anymore - he just tries too hard to be funny.

Conan has been good but the time it's on - is weird

I like the late late show guy,....used to be drew careys boss on his show,....funny as heck.

You are thinking of Crag Ferguson... he is funny although his time slot stinks and his budget is minuscule. He's a little to racy for mainstream although that doesn't matter to me it will probably hold him back. I used to like his predecessor Craig Kilborn too. Johnny was a gem but of another era. I actually like Letterman when he followed Carson and thought he was hysterical his first year on CBS. Now he's just a bitter man with a political agenda and he's rarely funny. CoCo is great and the only one I'm willing to record when I have to get up early for work.

I still record Letterman every night. Don't usually watch the whole show, just the monologue, then fast forward to whichever actress in a short dress is appearing that night, listen to the stand-up comedian if there is one, then delete (unless Willie Nelson or someone cool is the musical guest). I knock out the show in about 15 minutes or less.

Leno drives me nuts. At least Letterman gets involved with his guests, Leno just phones it in.

I have been watching "Chelsea Lately". Chelsea Handler is the only female late night host, pretty fresh stuff. Has a panel of 3 comedians that does about 20 minutes, then a guest for 10 and done. Kevin Spacey was on the other night, he was good. Again, good DVR material.

All in all would rather fast forward Letterman and Handler than watch Good Morning America!

Craig Ferguson is a hoot!

x4 for Johnny C. We did see David L live last year (randomly picked from the Broadway sidewalk, interviewed and received free tics). It was neat to see how things "really" work. They keep the set at 50 degrees, you have to wear jackets for the show. Next time I'll have my Polaris or Artic Cat gear with. :)

David and Jay, tho they try, will always take a back seat to Johnny.

AMEN! I remember when Saturday Night Live was funny too...not so much anymore though. Letterman and all the others these guys just don't compare. Seems they have to rely on current politics for all their jokes, where Johnny and the oldies used to have an imagination, or at least their staff did. Late nite will never be the same. I just go to sleep early now...LOL...

Wow, Saturday Night Live.
Back in the day, just too many to comment on, but Gilda Radner (may she rest in peace) was one I will remember.

Agreed! At the peak of SNL, Gilda Radner, as Roseanne Roseannadanna, Baba Wawa, and Emily Litella:
"If it isn't one thing it's another; it's always something!" … "violins on television" … the "Eagle Rights Amendment" … "presidential erections," … "busting school children", and "protecting endangered feces."

"Never mind."
She was from Michigan, too, and attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where she began her broadcasting career as the weather girl for college radio station WCBN.

I'll get tired of letterman and switch to leno and switch back. Seems like when you watch every nite the same one you get tired of them so switch it up.

Idk if letterman tries too hard or what but back in the day he was alot better. Now you can just see/feel the jerk in him in the way he talks and treats people.

And lenno well what can you say the guy just looks funny and makes me laugh without saying a word.

i think the later late late shows could easilly move up in the lemo letterman time slots and be very sucsessfull.
