"Likes Like late January and February out there."

This phrase is a common theme going back to late April. I remember John saying that every time it snowed in da up "man it looks more like February than the end of April", which was like once a week. I think we rode every sunday from april to the first week of May and the snow was awesome even after we gave up.

Now early December and the phrase is out again. "Man it looks a lot more like the end of January than the beginning of December"

I hope all can take advantage of the bountiful white gold.

IT's Beginning to look a lot like February I mean Christmas.

Yeaeeee Hawwaaaa.

It definitely FEELS like January, temps in the single digits to below zero, winds, friggin brutal at times. Love the snow, could do without the cold. 20 would be nice! I can't recall a day this month that we haven't had any snow to move. December hasn't been like this in a real long time. If this continues at this pace we could be in the running for a record that has not been seen since the winter of 1978-79. Folks with plans for December trips will not be disappointed with trail conditions & the businesses will be in their glory after such a long drought of poor Decembers.-Mezz

Always makes me nervous when we get this cold and snow early in the year. I hope it doesn't come back to haunt us in Jan/Feb.

Yes can be worry some with early snow. I believe the long range forecast I saw called for above average snow and colder temps first half of winter and dryer than average and average temps second have of winter so I guess play when you can good things about early snow is areas like the northern up will have a good base and typically get LES to freshen things up regardless of system snow. Same with northern Bayfield county 18" on ground now and they get LES almost daily. Not regularly talked about but the heart of Northern Bayfield county gets a lot of snow!

For sure feels like the middle of winter. -9 this morning with a high of -4 today. Only a foot on the ground now......It was really weird to be in the 2nd week of May and seeing blowing, whipping snow with over 4 feet on the ground. We had a real dumper like May 8th. The whole family said it felt like middle January.

You know it's going good here at Tech when Hwy 41 has had a solid snow base on it for the entire past week - could ride a snowmobile straight down the middle of any just about any street in Houghton and not worry one bit about carbides.

Those are "squeaky snow" temps. Tomorrow's low/high forecast for Winnipeg, MB is -18/-11, which puts you in pretty impressive company.

I'm guessing there will be no problems with the trails setting up.

Yes it does! Will it stay is next question?
Will it stay???? Till friggin April, at least. This isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We've had over 80" already so far, I would say we are on pace for reaching that record year of '78-79. I have to say, it has been tireless for the last 12 day's. Plow & shovel 2 times a day, sometimes 3. Conditions are pretty darn good right now for snow play, especially for early December, as long as you can stand the temps.-Mezz

It has been very cold for this early in the year. I just looked and in Grand Forks this December we have been below zero for lows the last 11 days and have not been above zero for the high on 8 of the last 10 days.
