Listening to books in car

Hi all,

Not sure if I'm posting this non-snowmobile question in the right forum. If it needs to move, let me know if I can move it or if John needs to move it.

My new vehicle doesn't have a CD player. I always listen to books-on-CD in my vehicle, but it appears that run is over. For those of you that listen to audio books in vehicles that don't have a CD player, what do you use? I'm comfortable with the whole Bluetooth thing, but to date the only thing I've used Bluetooth for is making phone calls and listening to Pandora.

I use Amazon for just about everything, and I think they have an audio book service, so maybe that's an option? But is it easy to pause the audio via that kind of service? I'm always afraid that if I wait a week or two to fire up such an audio book, that it will start me from the beginning and it will take me 15 minutes to figure out where I left off.

Again, I know this isn't anywhere close to a snowmobile question but my guess is some of you have experience in this realm. And I wasn't about to join an "audio forum" to ask this question. ;-)

You might consider a portable CDplayer & plug the headphone jack into the input Jack on the car radio.-Mezz

I considered that, but I'm not sure I want to jerry-rig something in this brand new vehicle. Besides, this might be someone's way of telling me to get with the times.

if you have Amazon prime you now get portions of Audible for free (audio books) you can load them on your phone via the audible app, just sign in with your prime password. Your other option, assuming you are getting the books on CD from the library) would be to put them into your computer and rip them to MP3 then load them on your phone.

It's not really jerry rigging, most systems have an "input" plug for the purpose of connecting other audio sources such as an I-pod, CD players etc... I thought it was a simple solution. Now, if you want to keep it tidy, then do as scott_b suggested & down load the books to your phone, then you can stream them to the system via Bluetooth.-Mezz

I get a lot of eBooks from Amazon, mostly on Kindle, and they never forget my place, even if I continue reading on another device. I gotta think their audio books are the same. If you use kindle, you can get the free kindle app for your smartphone and everything you put on your kindle will automatically be shown on your phone as well.
