Lookin for a Lab Pup!

My oldest will turn 8 on March 23rd...I'm looking for a lab for his birthday as a special treat..We lost our Chocolate to an unfortunate accident about 2.5 yrs ago.. He has wanted a dog everyday and now he is going to get one!! I would like a chocolate or even one of the new silver ones but will consider all types...Please email, post, or PM me if you have any information...

Labs. I know of a few folks that got dogs from them, and they
are REALLY nice. (Healthy and what they said they would be)
It would be a 3 1/2 hr. drive down here for ya,...
but it may be just what you're looking for.

Lab Puppy

I have two labs from Rangerwood Kennels in Kiel WI.

www.rangerwoodkennels.com I would highly recomend them. They are expecting a litter in two weeks from Tilly who can be seen on their website, as well as searching www.phuhunt.com and www.nbdca.com. She is an amazing hunter, but also is a great house dog. I shared her with the Jeff the owner of rangerwood till I had to relocate for a job.

AWWW: just a FYI . check Craigs list qiut a few end up on there off and on .. up north WI. or Wausau Wi. or check your humane society at least they are nutered and have all there shots .. Marathon city has a pet adoption place dont know the toatal name of it but call the marathon city vet they will help you .wausau humane society has a bunch of animals also that could use a new home these are all in Centeral WI. . good luck on your venture hope you find your lab ..

As a true lab guy I can tell you that you should be very cautious of "silver labs". Whoever dabbles in this false cross breeding should be "dabbled with" themselves. Gosh this just jerks my chain!!!

Question about these "Silver" labs, I had never heard of this color lab so I went to the website, and I have to say they look alot like my Weimeraner. Is this really a purebred lab or some kind of cross? Just curious.

Snowmomof2 - The AKC does NOT recognize silver labs. That alone should tell you something. They have been crossbred but are being sold as "rare" for big money, even though AKC doesn't recognize them. People in our area are paying over $1,000.00 for a silver pup?? This subject drives me crazy!

I could be wrong, but I was reading a site (which doesn't mean it was right) that the AKC did recognize them and has done all the genetic testing on them and they proved to be a true lab. Again, people can write whatever they want on a website, but that's what I saw. Interesting.

A silver is a light chocolate lab IIRC. Just like a fox red is a yellow lab. Silver and fox reds are not actually colors, even though they look those colors. Those dogs are actually chocolate, and yellow. I got a black a few months ago, and did all the research, including the DNA research of the colors.

Don't drop a ton of $$ on a LAB unless you plan to train and show the dog. If you are looking for a family pet/friend you can't go wrong with a lab. There are plenty of places to pick up good dogs. We got this little girl 1.5yrs ago near Lena WI. Just stopped at the Shell gas station on 141, saw the tag, called, stopped at the farm and fell in love @ 1st sight. Picked her up for about $100.00. Good luck.

We were looking at purebred labs and ended up getting a mutt through Critter Rescue here in town. We had to go to a lady's house to look at the pups and when I saw the condition she was living in I could not leave her there. The best we can tell she is part lab/husky/????? and she has been a great pet for the last 5 years. The best part is that she was free!
