looking for an old movie

as I kid I remember a movie that I liked but cannot remember the name and as time goes by I remember less of the movie. It was a black and white, I think, and from the era of the original "war of the worlds" time frame. The thing that stands strong in my mind was these small creatures about 8-12" long and looked like a giant ant body but had something like a human head. They were on the side of a building and crawled around, that's all I remember these days. Does this ring a bell for anyone. I am 45 years old and probably seen this sometime in the mid 70's. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I definitely know I've seen the movie. I'm pretty sure it was in black & white also.

It may have been an episode in the Outer Limits or Twilight Zone TV series, probably not from the old Alfred Hitchcock series.

I'll see what I can dredge up.

Edited: How about ten inch-long ants with human faces and (apparently) poison stingers?

The Outer Limits, December 30, 1963 (Season 1, Episode 14): The Zanti Misfits (B&W).
See also: Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB), "The Outer Limits" The Zanti Misfits (1963).

Episode run time: 51 min.
I was 23 years old when this show first aired; of course that was before you were born, Lenny, but I'm sure it has aired many times since. In fact the This TV network's lineup currently features reruns of such vintage series as The Outer Limits, so I'm sure there have been many opportunities to see The Zanti Misfits over the years.

Hooray fer Lenny! I hope you get a good copy of the DVD!
Me? Not terribly interested in in seeing it again, but t'anks ennyway [sic]! :)
Besides, the Outer Limits episodes air frequently on a local station; some I watch, some I don't.

How'd we ever survive before the Internet, eh? (Now how's that for a scary thought, eh?)
