I got a note from someone saying that a MI State Police Dog is missing near Onaway Michigan in NE Lower MI and had hopes that someone in the area or passing through might come upon him and help out.

You can read more in this news story and on a facebook page.

Sad story. There is a $1000 reward being offered also. Hope they find him, he's a good dog. He has done many demonstrations at my kids schools here in Alcona county.

Yup! Talked to a lady that may have seen him. Were getting a group going for Saturday and hunt for him.

best of luck finding him.

Did anyone else read comments under the story? People fighting on the internet. I don't get it.

I read a few of them and found it to be childish! I was a K-9 officer in the Air Force and it is a little surprising that this dog would chase a deer, our dogs would not have ever done that, a simple command of HEEL and it would have returned immediately? The thing is though with this dog, it appears to be trained for tracking and narcotics, not attack so that would make a big difference in the commands. When training an attack dog it is imperative that he responds to OUT or Heel, a lot of people would be bitten otherwise? Our dogs were almost all trained in attack, drugs or bombs and tracking, very few were trained only drug or bomb? My first thought when I read that people were hunting for them is that is not a good idea but the news article does state he is docile and will come to strangers?

Nope. We met with the officer on Friday night to get information. Looked all day till dark. No foot prints or sign of him.
