Maybe its just me, but is the UP as a whole way below snow for this year? I remeber in years past were there is 4+ feet of snow on the ground. We usually go up to the ironwood area but this year we have stayed in Norhern Wisconsin ( Bayfield CO) were there is alot more snow. Just wondering what your 2 cents was???

Well, I guess it would matter what your idea of "way below" is, but I am down around 100" from this time last year. However, we were significantly above average at this time last year and things also got pretty quiet from this point on last season.

But yes, much of the UP has seen significantly less snow this season to date than last year. Thanks El Nino!

The good news is that February is nearly half over. I don't think there are indications of a major thaw through February. So it's March before we know it, and most of us (south of say...Madison-Milwaukee-Grand Rapids) survived an El Nino winter, albeit with less snow, and a nasty January thaw. I think John wrote some time ago that El Nino's have been known to produce some great early spring storms.
