Mackinac Island

The wife and I are heading to the island for two days (Sunday and Monday night) the beginning of October. Been there a few times for the day but always wondered what it was like after all the people left for the day. Anyone have any ideas of things to do in the evening.

Just check to make sure the island is still open & going to be chilly. Was thru there last year at that time & snow flurries.

Is anything open in October on the Island. Why then???

Well the hotel is. lol We found a good deal for a two night package and this was the only time that worked for us. Also figure there should be some color then, maybe a week too soon for peak but should be some. We'll just have to make the best of it.

my wife and I have went many times. we've spent many weekends there.

if you are looking for a quiet get away this is perfect. Nothing like taking a walk, hanging out on the docks, glass of wine in front of your hotel....

heading to goodfellows or pink pony for a nightcap..... I love the place..............but bring your wallet.........we stayed 2 nights the last time we were there and it was over $500 but it was super awesome. very quiet and lots of stuff to do that doesn't involve technology....

I've been there in Oct and you will need a jacket and it will still be good.

I love that place, gosh I want to go now.

Yep that's what I would expect in October more activity early Oct winding down a lot day by day. Color along the lake not so good at least last year & all the way to Toronto just too warm close to lake. Much more color in northern WI Oct 5th just the way it is at that time of Fall.

It is always nice when someone answers their own questions.

I didn't answer any of my questions but m8man did.

A little secret told to us by the innkeepers of a B&B we stayed at while on the island a few years ago.

If you want to see the Grand Hotel without paying their stupid fee, just go in through the workers entrance at the bottom of the hill below the hotel. You get to walk by the old pool and crocket courts on your way up to the hotel. My son was along and even got a chance to take a quick dip in the pool.

This message will self destruct in 10 sec. after reading!
