Mackinac Island?

Is the ice bridge to Mackinac Island open? Is there another source other than the US Coast Guard Station in St. Ignace for getting a status of the ice bridge?

There is no "official" opening or anyone who takes responsibility far the ice crossing to the island. I have been trying for years to get solid information about the status of the ice bridge and whether the Christmas Trees were up. The local club website is years out of date and their facebook page isn't much better. There is no one who is willing to take responsibility for answering questions about traversing the ice to the island. Even calling for a motel reservation gets you nowhere as the reservation line isn't local. There used to be a webcam in St. Ignace that would - at least - show if people are crossing. I can't find that anymore. If you find something, please let us know.
