11:00 a.m. and the temp is 91 degrees with a Heat Index of 106???????? Alright whoever is playing this joke on us winter lovers we give...... The next two weeks look brutal. And just as fate would have it I get to work uniform patrol all week cause of man power shortages. Geee cant hardly wait..... Who else has a job that is absolutly miserable in the heat????

Went fishing on the St. Croix early this morning - very nice on the Wisconsin side in the shade and the bass were biting. Came home to resume relocating my sprinkler system valve boxes. Not the same experience.

Heat index is currently 107 and I'm up to my elbows in dirt and poly pipe. Thank goodness this isn't really my regular job. My hat's off to anyone who works outside in this weather. You're not being paid enough.

Looks like 91 is the coolest high we'll see all week. It's July for sure.

Our week forecast is 90-97 degrees for highs, and 70-75 for lows. I think that 70-75 for high would be just fine. I'm on vacation this week, so I think we will go anyplace that has A/C. I really feel for you guys that have to actually work in this crap.

The 4 Seasons

I've often thought how special the upper midwest is for having four distinct seasons. Just six months from now temps could be in the single digits, hopefully we're building a snow base and a 110 Heat Index just a distant memory.

I too am on vacation this week, I feel bad for those that are working outside. If you're out there, remember to drink your fluids and frequent breaks are a must.

Keep the pets comfortable too, lots of fresh water and shade. Our dog has a pet pillow under one of our ceiling fans. She hasn't moved since we got home from the lake.

I could not believe how repressive the heat was yesterday, I also could not believe my weather station. We hit a temp of 96 with humidity & dewpoints in the 70+ range. My station reads the dewpoints to a certain point then displays the heat index which was showing 112! I don't know how accurate it is, but, I was not in disagreement with how it felt, friggin miserable! I don't heat my pool water, & I'm glad for that, as it was very cooling while you were in it, but when you got out, instant misery once again. I think I might be looking for a way to refrigerate the pool water now! We've had a slow start to spring & summer, but to get thrown right into the oven so quickly is a real shock to the body. I am not a fan of the humid crap at all, I can't wait for it it depart. Here is to trying to stay cool.-Mezz

I have been on a roof for the last 2 week and 2-3 more to go and it's HOT. Could only do 6 hrs today so far and was shot but may go back tonight.

UP FaSizzle

Well, it's not quite as stifling as yesterday, but not off the mark by much. Here is a pic of my weather station as of 2:30 this afternoon. As you can see, the humidity is at 60% & the temp is still on the rise at 96F & so is the heat index, presently 115F, :(YUK! At this point, all I can do is put my mind back into picture #2.-Mezz

It's inhuman this heat I can't enjoy anything outside unless it's in the shade by our neighborhood pool.

We left the UP early this weekend saturday, our place has no AC and when you got wet the deer flies decended on you. I did a bike event saturday morning out of Wakefield about 55 miles, I was drenched after 13 miles from the humididty, the horseflies/ deerflies were following me the whole time. Glad I didn't have a flat tire I would have been eaten alive while changing it.

We were going to go to the Chicago Botantical Gardens tonight for a concert by a 50's and 60's band. We and the other couple are cancelling, just too hot.

My co-workers think I'm crazy because of my winter antics, now I ask them how they are enjoying this weather?

Its too hot!

Its insane hot out there! Told my guys to start an hour early and only work 6 hours today, (till 11 am), and probably the rest of the week. My boss wasn't happy about it, but whatever. My guys are awesome, but bull headed. They'll work till they pass out and then feel guilty about sleeping on the job. We'll make up the work when it cools down a bit.
