Manufacturer Marketing Shenanigans (I mean Efforts)

Hello,
If you know me I am a marketing watcher and complainer.

First, two good new sled promos this year;
-March/April 2018. 18 Ski-Doo 850 129 or 137" $9,200-$9,500 (add tax reg).
-September 2018. 18 Polaris 800 shorty manual $7,850 (add tax and reg).

Second, bad promo;
-Got a $300 email coupon from Polaris good off any 18 or 19 off road vehicle (ATV, Ranger etc.).
Before I opened it I fully expected it to be off a sled, not an off road machine.

This campaign must have been cooked up months ago and launched today as any moron can tell you there hasn't been a snowflake (we'll, I've seen a few) anywhere in the Midwest for 19 days. Why isn't this a sled offer? Can the Dealers be telling Poo their sleds are flying off the shelves with nowhere to ride them? NOT! Poo should have said; "H,mmm, there hasn't been a "snowfall report" on John Dee since 12/1/18, lets sell some sleds and take some pressure off the Dealers and gain market share..NOT.
Don't get me started on Doo, offers that are ridiculous. The only smart thing they did was control production so there are less sleds and was able to pull rebates.
A/C; who knows, they are still selling 13's down in Francis Creek, WI.

Once again, these CMO's should be fired! They are about as nimble as a Heifer in a turnstile. I created this email in the same amount of time a manufacturer can do the same.

Dealers, please chime in, lets here it.

Have a nice day (I need to ride soon).

Corporate marketing and budgets, no chance they could launch a campaign in under a month. Just my .02 cents from the marine industry.

I guess if it was easy everybody would be doing it. There would still be 100 different sled mfgrs. As far as Pol sled sales are such a small part of their whole production they really don't put a big priority on anything sled related. They would rather sell you a Ranger for 20 grand that you then have to buy a windshield and a whole bunch of other stuff just to make it drivable. Lots more money to be made.

Really have nothing to add to this subject but this is funny: "They are about as nimble as a Heifer in a turnstile."

Thanks for the first laugh of the day.

I'm of the opinion that Poo has a lot more competition in the ATV/UTV markets now, than in the past. Plus their sled market has improved. Just my opinion. But, they have done this in the past also.

my guess is its not really peak snowmobile season, so there all thinking snow will come and motivate folks to buy sleds, so NOT wasting a discount off sleds till come later in winter IF snow doesn't come to do that!

where as, since NO snow now and all, why not push atv/utv sales in what would be there OFF season
that or maybe dealers have a crap load of left over atv'utv's and need to move some for new one's ??

honestly, there is IMO way more mark up and GIVE on ALL things than this offer is making a big difference, heck, just driving from one dealer to another can save you 300 bucks or more??
so, what are they really offering
NOTHING< there just using marketing to get folks thinking and TALKING about there products and well, with THAT
they did a home run, as look at this tread and the attention its getting, NOT huge
but one letter to OP and its got several others attention on it?
marketing anymore is seldom IMO about the item , its about getting folks talking about things of there brand in general
which gets there name out there more, than any single item or product line?

No discounts on current model sleds until January 1st has always been the rule of thumb. I also believe in Polaris's case that they mentioned that in the snow check fine print.....guarantee no better incentives until after January 1st.

As others have mentioned, small companies can make changes on the fly that you are hoping to receive. However, all of the sled manufactures are big time companies and sledding is a very small portion of what they do so I would count on it changing.

The auto industry reacts in days. If they have a bad month the programs come flooding out so this industry could do so also.
